Arrange a Break

print

How do I arrange a Break?

If you think that you, or someone you care for, need a break, contact your local Social Work Office or Health Centre and ask for an assessment of need or ask for a Carers Assessment. An assessment is a meeting with you to talk about your needs. Because the Council has a limited amount of money for care services, we have set guidelines, known as What is Respite Care? to make sure that people in greatest need and at most risk are first to receive services.

If you are eligible for Short Breaks, we will agree a Care Plan with you which will be reviewed annually.

Will I have to pay?

Everyone has to make a contribution towards the cost of Short Breaks, unless the break is in a hospital. Your assessment of need will include a Financial Assessment, which will determine how much you will have to pay. More information on charging for Care at Home Services and and Residential Care, Temporary and Respite Care is available in the PDF files below.
